Cornerstone Accounting

Since August 2009, CFO-Foundations has been working with Butch Harrington, a local accountant in Elgin, IL. His small business is comprised of one CPA and a part-time assistant. What CFO-Foundations has done is provided fresh marketing vision and a helpful “keen eye for detail.” This added perspective on internal company processes has helped Cornerstone Accounting navigate successfully through difficult economic times and lay a foundation for future plans of growth.

One of the first orders of business was to create a website. We also suggested converting his monthly “tax update” newsletter into an RSS-driven email newsletter. To accomplish this, we set up a blog on his website, with built-in signup forms. Now, delivering the newsletter is an easy 1-step process.

Butch can now compose his newsletters using WordPress, and thanks to the MailChimp account we setup for him, they will automatically deliver at a specified time to all his clients and subscribers. This means he no longer has to go through the long, manual process of sending individual newsletters to each client. On top of that, his newsletter now provides rich analytical data, showing him which readers opened and clicked on the newsletter, as well as which articles generated the most buzz.

In addition to this, clients can now easily subscribe to the newsletter via sign-up forms on the website, and unsubscribe at any time by clicking a link in the email. It has become a great communications tool, and a way for Butch to stay connected to his clients year round.
